With a BA in Elementary Education, you will learn to bring content and contemplative concepts into your teaching while also being able to help students grow emotionally and intellectually. Our courses emphasize cultural responsiveness and provide many opportunities to gain diverse experiences with children from all backgrounds. Graduates often work as elementary school teachers, but they also pursue careers in law, psychology, counseling, social work, or public administration. Graduates of these courses, who have taken at least one section of each course, will have the option to do the following:
Complete the equivalency requirements for a BA in Elementary Education
Complete a certificate in Elementary Education
Complete a curriculum seminar
Transfer credit for one credit to a related course
You must be planning on doing the college-level courses offered in Early Childhood (pre-K), Elementary Education (grades K-5), and Educational Leadership to qualify for our fee waiver programs. You must be planning on completing one of the following concentrations (CBA, ECE, or ELA) and are unable to complete the full requirements for your degree BA in Elementary Education.
What does a BA in Elementary Education entail?
Basic knowledge of how to think and reflect
Working with students at various levels and recognizing the various academic needs of each
Developing a comprehensive understanding of the theory of pedagogy
A good understanding of the school environment
Mentorship program with guest speakers
Interest in child development and teaching methodology
Coursework that directly affects learning at the elementary level
Students will have the opportunity to enroll in our courses on SATURDAYS
